One of the stars and founders
of the Ssanyu African Music and Dramatic Society (SAMADS), Moses Kawooya,
passed away in the Ugandan entertainment industry.
Following a protracted battle
with a disease since the beginning of the year, the late performer passed away
at the age of 65.
At occasions where he
frequently appeared, Moses Kawooya exploited his belly to captivate audiences
and achieve notoriety for his amazing dancing moves.
He frequently entertained at
events hosted by President Museveni, which increased his notoriety among the
populace and helped him live this long till his death.
The nation was struck by the
worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, forcing a protracted lockdown that stopped all
work and caused the late Moses Kawooya's problems.
It turned out that the late
Kawooya's vehicle had a mechanical issue, and he was unable to pay for its
repair, which severely impacted his taxi company during that time.
According to Kawooya's account
of the origin of his condition, which was based on a recent interview with
Vision Group, he initially experienced a toothache and thought that the medical
staff treating him perhaps made a mistake.
In an attempt to get financial
assistance, he even tried contacting President Museveni and well-wishers, but
his requests were ignored.
He was very specific about how
much agony the extracted tooth was causing him in his left jaw, which eventually
spread to his brain.
In a matter of moments, he
experienced a swelling in his neck and a paralysis on the left side of his
head, rendering him incapable of performing any independently. It has been
difficult for Kawooya to obtain medicine ever since.
