UPDF has explained circumstances under which 50 inmates escaped from Moroto in north-east Uganda government prison after overpowering the prison warden before escaping from the prison naked.
According to the UPDF spokesperson Brig Flavia Nalweyiso the inmates also broke into the armoury and took with them 14 guns that they fired randomly as they escaped and as a result of the scuffle one UPDF soldier was shot dead.She has also noted that 3 of the suspects have so far been re-arrested & one shot dead during the hunt near Mt.Moroto as the joint operation between the army and Police is still ongoing.The operation by UPDF in pursuit of escapees from singila prison in moroto to re arrest them and recover the stolen guns continues.
