With
performances of his classic songs during the Bell-sponsored Roast and Rhyme
Reggae Raga edition at Jahazi Pier Munyonyo, Maddox reawakened the origins of
Ugandan reggae among the partygoers.
Dembe,
which is loosely translated as "peace," opened his live performance
with his band, drawing most of the audience members to the front to get a peek
of the legendary Ugandan reggae performer while also making sure they recorded
it.
Contrary
to tradition, the crowd didn't have to wait long for the main act when Maddox
took the stage at around nine minutes and entertained the crowd for an entire
hour while playing his lengthy songs.
Later,
Benon and Vampos joined him for a brief freestyle performance, which was capped
off by everyone's all-time favorite Namagembe.
At the
17th Roast and Rhyme, Maddox Ssematimba was the featured performer.
As the
primary event sponsor, Bell Lager is and will always be thrilled to be a part
of the picnic-themed Roast and Rhyme experience to provide Mpola enjoyments to
customers as they deliver an unforgettable experience at the event, according
to Bell Lager spokesman Justin Agaba.
In
order to make the experience more convenient for customers, Bell Lager once
more provided the Mpola park with some casual board games, cards, a cozy
lounging area, and a cocktail bar, he said.
The Double Black Band, Rickman Rick, and
Nutty Neithan performed at this event, which also marked the 17th anniversary
of Roast and Rhyme. Bella, Njagala Faasi also made a surprise appearance!
Even the dark clouds couldn't stop the reggae
during the just finished Roast and Rhyme Reggae Raga Edition, which took place
last Sunday.
