After
an awful journey that saw him encounter unforeseen obstacles abroad, Ugandan
artist Beenie Gunter has finally returned home. The performer was put in an
awkward predicament last month when, after a well-received concert in Dubai, he
was being held at the airport there.
His arrest's reasons remain unclear,
however preliminary reports suggested that he was held on suspicion of causing
property damage while under Dubai's purview. Gunter was sent quickly to the Abu
Dhabi prison, where he was left stunned and confused as he waited to be found
out.
But what actually transpired was an incredible outpouring of love and unity
from admirers, friends, and well-wishers across the globe. Many people on
social media demanded that the Ugandan government take immediate action to
guarantee Gunter's release and safe return home.
Gunter's girlfriend Nickie Berry
made the happy news public with a touching video that she shared on TikTok, capturing the touching moment of
their reunion and captioning it, "Welcome back, Papito."
