Kafeero
Umaru professionally known as Oma Africana is a Ugandan Singer and Songwriter.
In 2006, he lost his Dad and his role model in life and started living a hard
and miserable life. During stay in the village, he met a friend called Octopus
who dearly loved music and indeed a great singer.
Octopus
shared a vision he had about music and they needed to start singing with
immediate effect, by then Oma Africana used to call himself Brodwin. He hustled
and looked for jobs inorder to raise money for his music career. He worked
tirelessly but still didn’t have enough to go to a good studio. His talent came
to the attention of Andy Music who gave him the first deal to write and record a
song for his child called Tanisha.
As
he continued to hustle, he met the Ugandan dancehall Beenie Gunter. He was then
introduced to Imon Pro and recorded a song with him. During that time, he was
joined by his Brother Asteyn and decided to record the songs called “Kilomidi and
Shuga” and after a few months Asteyn
introduced him to Eddy Kenzo who dearly liked his music also.
Eddy Kenzo gave him a chance to record music
from his studio Bang Records at no cost. In 2020 he got signed to a legendary record
label Black Market Records where he is ready to produce more music.
