Zari Dancers Africa is a
multi-talented dance group in Uganda that officially hit the entertainment
scene in 2018 when they held their maiden concert at Big Zone in Nansana, a
Kampala suburb, which has hitherto been their home.
The
dance group was initially started as a simple idea by a group of four youths
who include Zaina aka Zari, Josephine (DVJ Nagi), Mathew (Mc Mist) and Saudah
in 2013 when they started gathering young kids from the neighboring ghetto
homestead and started sensitizing them about bad effects of getting involved in
criminal activities.
It
was then that they realized the idea could be put into reality after noticing
that the kids can actually dance, sing and perform comedy skits well.
The
group kicked off their commercial dancing career and have since worked with
several big names in the music industry that include; David Lutalo (Onsanuula),
Daxx Kartel (Omupangisa), Mesach Ssemakula (Onkuba), Aziz Azion, late Pastor
Augustine Yiga of Revival Church Ministries, Pastor Wilson Bugembe, Gravity
Omutujju and Fik Fameika on his ‘Muko’ video.
They
have since featured in many Black Market Records; songs which include: ‘Bambi’
by Mbuzi Gang, ‘This Boy’ by Angella Katatumba, ‘For You’ by Shakira Shakiraa,
‘Bwoti’ by Daddy Andre feat Fik Fameika and ‘Call Me’ by Junior.
